This meeting is all about equanimity. It's a word that a lot of folks in the meditation and yoga community hear a lot about, and for good reason. Working toward goals or achievements requires a little bit (or a lot!) of struggle, and these activities can be challenging. It's easy to judge ourselves and beat ourselves up for not doing as well as we thought we would, which can further deflate our sense of worth. How do you weather through the storms that we encounter along the way? We're frequently told to "grin and bear it," persevere, and grit it out. I would offer that a kinder approach to achieving this is to work on your sense of equanimity. At this event, we'll talk a little bit about equanimity and how it can be applied to the challenges we face in our Northern Virginia community, and we'll get an opportunity to practice it with a quiet, semi-guided sitting.
