First Fridays: September - "Remembering Who We Really Are"

  • Brennan Institute for Mind Body Healing 1801 Robert Fulton Drive, Suite 230 Reston, VA 20191 USA (map)

"O Nobly Born, O you of glorious origins, remember your radiant true nature, the essence of mind. Trust it. Return to it. It is home."
—The Tibetan Book of the Dead

Who am I? This is the question, isn't it? So often we're confronted with times of struggle and difficulty, and we wonder how we ever got ourselves into this mess to begin with. We say to ourselves, "This isn't me, this isn't who I am, what happened, and how did I get here?" Our complicated lives are the result of the stories that we make up about who we are, and to which we give agency over our directives and decisions. How do I reclaim my happiness and get back to who I really am? It takes a bit of courage, honesty, more than a little self-compassion, and above all, awareness. We'll talk about this and more at First Friday : September!

6:00 to 6:15 - Arrival and Opening Remarks
6:15 to 7:15 - Conversation on remembering who we really are
7:15 - 7:35 - Vipassana Sitting
7:35 - 8:00 - Snacks and Q&A

Our NovaPrana events are supported entirely by donations, and a suggested donation of $5-$10 is greatly appreciated to help us work toward our mission.
