Welcome to (almost) Spring! Before we know it, flowers will be blooming, birds will be chirping, bugs will emerge from their rest, temperatures will start to rise, the sun will shine into the evening, and we'll all return to a state of green. As the northern hemisphere launches this new initiative, when better than to launch our own. For many, this is a time to emerge from our own winter hibernation, and to put into action all the things we said we would do "in the new year." During this First Fridays, we'll talk about how to do this with a clear mind and with an open heart. Please join us for this event! We'll start with a quiet sitting, and from there we'll talk this through and join in with some fellowship. All are welcome!

Since this is squarely in the dinner hour, snacks are provided! If you would like to be a snack donor for one of these events, just reach out to us at info@novaprana.org. All of our events are free and open to the public, but donations are greatly appreciated!

First Fridays : February- "Relationships!"

Hey all! For this edition of First Friday, we bring you a conversation about relationships. It's tempting to put this in the light of the impending Valentines Day holiday, but a conversation about this can extend to anyone you know, meet, or work with. Ram Dass once said, "If you ever wonder whether or not you're enlightened, go spend some time with your family." Why is it that relationships can be so rewarding and meaningful, and yet, at the same time, so frustrating and difficult? Is it what you bring with you to the relationship, the inherent limitations of language and meaning, or the inevitable conflict in what you want vs. what the other person wants. We'll discuss all this and more, and maybe even discuss some solutions, at First Fridays - February.

Since this is squarely in the dinner hour, snacks are provided! If you would like to be a snack donor for one of these events, just reach out to us at info@novaprana.org.

First Fridays : January - "New Year's Intentions"

Happy New Year, everybody! This is the season for new beginnings and new challenges! It's also, however, the season for the traditional, but often dreaded, maligned, and often broken New Year's Resolution. From "I'll lose 20 pounds this year and go to the gym three times per week," to "I'll start a meditation practice this year," these resolutions, although made with the best of intentions, rarely turn out the way we envisioned. In this January "First Friday" session, we'll talk about intentionality and the intentions behind the resolutions we make, and about how maybe it's more productive to make a New Year's Intention rather than a New Year's Resolution.

All of these issues and more to be discussed at "First Fridays" January! Again, our First Fridays events are limited to 10 attendees. Just use the form below to secure yourself a seat! Since this is squarely in the dinner hour, snacks are provided! If you would like to be a snack donor for one of these events, just reach out to us at info@novaprana.org.

First Fridays : December - "Seva, Selfless Service"

With the cooling temperatures, the changing colors, and the resetting of clocks, the holiday season is upon us! We have officially entered the "season of giving." For the fortunate among us, we have the opportunity to be grateful for the food we have, the shelter we keep, and the friends and family that love and support us. For our November "First Fridays" event, we had a wonderful conversation about gratitude, and the subtle, and occasionally challenging art of acknowledging and receiving gifts - both those given to us and those forced upon us. In this season of giving, however, we also could use some time to consider how to give, and it is in this spirit that we offer the topic for our December "First Fridays" event, Seva - the art and practice of selfless service. A casual walk through any department store or shopping mall these days will show us how encouraged we are to be giving of things, but, more important than that, how do we give of ourselves? How do we do that selflessly? Is the goodness in that in the gift itself, or is it in the intention? All these questions and more to be discussed at "First Fridays" December! Again, our First Fridays events are limited to 10 attendees and so we require an RSVP. Just use the form below to secure yourself a seat! Since this is squarely in the dinner hour, snacks are provided! If you would like to be a snack donor for one of these events, just reach out to us at info@novaprana.org.

Winter is coming, and so are the holidays! The busy holiday season can be a challenge for us even in the best of times. Hectic schedules, family gatherings, the weight of expectation from our friends, relatives, and ourselves can get the best of any of us. Is there anything we can do, or a mindset that we can bring to these stressful times that can help us appreciate these holidays in a healthy and positive way? At our inaugural "First Friday" event, we'll talk about the importance of gratitude, not just for our loved families and friends, but also gratitude for one's self as we navigate this holiday season. Join us if you can! FYI - our First Fridays events are limited to 10 attendees and so we require an RSVP. Just use the form below to secure yourself a seat… or cushion!
